What is MiniCAT™?
The Xoran MiniCAT™ is a compact, upright volume computed tomography system designed for high-resolution bone window imaging of the sinuses, temporal bones and skull base. MiniCAT™ provides immediate access to images at the patient’s point-of-care, resulting in a faster diagnosis and treatment.
For the Patient
Your patients will enjoy the convenience of immediate imaging, a faster diagnosis, and the ability to begin their treatment more quickly. MiniCAT™ has a lower radiation dose than conventional (full-body) CT, and affords your patients the comfort of sitting upright in an open design, minimizing claustrophobia. Immediate imaging allows your patient to visualize their anatomy and leads to better compliance with the recommended treatment protocol.
For the Physician
MiniCAT™ gives you the ability to diagnose and treat your patients faster and more conveniently by offering imaging services at the point-of-care. MiniCAT™ is compatible with most image-guided surgery systems, and gives you more flexibility for surgical planning, post-operative evaluations and care. Data can be saved on a CD, DVD, or file server. Xoran software makes it is easy to print images and customized reports as well as transmit images for teleradiology services via XoranConnect®.
For the Practice
The MiniCAT™ allows you to save valuable time and resources by eliminating the need to outsource your CT scans. With MiniCAT™, you control the timing and quality of your scans, while at the same time keeping scanning reimbursement in your practice. MiniCAT™ streamlines office workflow while increasing patient compliance and retention.
What size room do I need for the MiniCAT™ scanner?
We recommend that you use MiniCAT™ in a room that is 8' x 10' or larger. This size will give you and your patients a little more elbow room, and may minimize or even eliminate the amount of radiation shielding needed. Weighting in at only 450 lbs., MiniCAT™ installation is quick and efficient, without the need for additional floor reinforcement or room modification.
Do I need to install lead shielding in the scanning room?
The MiniCAT™ scanner emits very low radiation, and most facilities require minimal shielding to comply with State regulations. Any required shielding is typically included with your purchase. Xoran works with certified medical physicists to ensure that your scanner is safe for patients and staff, and meets all the requirements of your State's radiation protection agency.
Who can perform scans with the MiniCAT™ scanner?
MiniCAT™ was designed to be easy to use enabling physicians, nurses and CT techs to be trained in order to operate the scanner. Specific state laws govern who may operate CT scanners. Your Xoran Sales Manager will help you determine who may operate the MiniCAT™ scanner in your state.
What is the radiation dose for patients?
MiniCAT™ scan protocols range from approximately 1/5th to 1/20th of the radiation dose received compared to a conventional sinus CT. For more detailed information about radiation dose, click HERE.
How long does a scan take?
Capabilities include 20- and 10-second scan times depending on the protocol selected.
