2007 Annual Meetings held in Washington, D.C. AOA (Association of Otolaryngology Administrators) ARS (American Rhinological Society) AAO-HNSF (American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation) Xoran had a wonderful time visiting with old friends, new friends, customers and supporters. This year’s AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting was held mid-September in Washington, D.C. With over 9,000 attendees and exhibitors, an incredible amount of activity was all around. The international attendance increased dramatically from previous years and drew a lot of xCAT™ ENT interest. MiniCAT™ was not to be outshined, and maintained its place in the spotlight, center stage! Xoran shared its resources on Accreditation, which was a welcomed relief to many ENT doctors. Xoran sponsored the ABC’s of Accreditation. Dr. Jim Palmer shared the U PENN experience of completing the ICACTL accreditation process. U PENN was chosen as one of two ICACTL MiniCAT™ pilot sites designated to go through the accreditation application process. Dr. Palmer was a delight to listen to, sharing both his personal experience with the process and quick humor with the audience. Bob Pizzutiello, a nationally renowned medical physicist from Update Medical Physics, and ICACTL board member, gave an overview of what accreditation means and the process to become accredited. Bob wrapped up the ABC’s of Accreditation evening with a one-hour radiation safety course. The one-hour course brought attendees closer to completion of their ICACTL accreditation, as radiation safety is one of the requirements. Guests that remained after the ABC’s of Accreditation found themselves to be unexpectedly entertained with sweet sultry sounds of music. Bob Pizzutiello and Xoran’s own Will van Kampen picked up their musical instruments and treated the group to a spontaneous and delightful concert. Everyone had a blast. While in D.C., Xoran Academy met to discuss a variety of topics, including research grants, administrative changes, accreditation and xCAT™ ENT technology. During the AOA 25th Annual Educational Conference, Jolene Eicher shared her first-hand experience of having completed the ICACTL Accreditation process at the Xoran sponsored Early Bird session. Jolene’s group (Commonwealth ENT, Louisville, KY) and U PENN were the two pilot sites designated to apply for accreditation. Everyone enjoyed the session, including Jolene’s inside tips and easy-to-complete attitude! A few of the pictures from the week are below…enjoy!
