Medicare Physicians Now Reimbursed at Same Rate as Hospitals for Technical Component of CT Scans

The highly publicized and heated political debate about the January 1, 2007 adoption of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA), has caused a lot of confusion and rumors. Here is the bottom line: Medicare will now reimburse Physicians at the same rate as Hospitals for the technical component of CT scanning.

Bush Eliminates Scheduled 5% Cut in Medicare Reimbursement for Physician Services

On December 20, 2006, President Bush signed the Tax Relief and Health Care Improvement Act of 2006 (H.R. 6111), eliminating a scheduled 5% cut in Medicare reimbursement for physician services, and mandating a one-year freeze at the current Medicare conversion factor.
