Xoran Academy for Research and Education Announces 2007 Research Grant Recipients
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (April 3, 2007) - Xoran Academy for Research and Education is proud to announce that it will award five research grants this year. Fifteen outstanding applications were received and the determination for funding was a tough process given the rich talent pool that applied to the foundation. The following five awards have been announced:
- "Correlation Between Symptoms, Nasal Endoscopy, and Computed Tomography in Post-Operative Patients with Chronic Rhinosinusitis" Principal Investigator: Dr. William Ryan, Stanford School of Medicine
- "Impact of Computed Tomography on Clinical Decision Making in Sinonasal Disease" Principal Investigator: Dr. Anne Getz, University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University
- "Three-dimensional CT Volumetry of the Frontal Sinus Drainage Pathway" Principal Investigator: Dr. Joseph B. Jacobs at New York University
- "Adjunctive Intraoperative CT Scan Imaging for Endoscopic Surgery of the Anterior Skull Base" Principal Investigator: Dr. Alexander Chiu, University of Pennsylvania
- "Virtual Surgical Rehearsal for Preoperative Planning in Frontal Recess Endoscopic Surgery" Principal Investigator: Dr. Nikolas Blevins at Stanford University
In addition to these major grants, Xoran Academy continuously sponsors pilot research projects to explore novel ideas leading to potentially significant clinical improvements.
Xoran Academy is a Xoran Technologies, Inc. initiative. It was formed as a result of the passion for the encouragement and support of original, patient focused research in the diagnostic imaging sciences. Its inaugural meeting took place at the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) annual meeting in September 2006. Xoran Academy is chaired by Dr. David Kennedy. Its founding leader and members of the group are recognized clinical researchers in their field. As Xoran Academy continues to move forward, it plans to expand its scope into other specialties.
