A 36 y/o male presented with multiple sinus infections over the previous six months and no relief from antibiotics. He was first diagnosed with chronic sinusitis, worsening persistent allergic rhinitis, and nasal polyposis. Advair, Nasonex, Astelin and Singulair had been initially prescribed. A 12 days course of prednisone was prescribed to alleviate symptoms, and CT scanning was recommended at the four-week follow-up visit.

CT Accreditation Webinar April 30th

The AOA will host a webinar in response to the condition for reimbursement policy of United Healthcare to require accreditation by every freestanding facility and physician office that performs outpatient imaging services. The webinar will cover the third party accreditation requirements for specialty CT by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation for Computed Tomography Laboratories (ICACTL). The featured speaker will be AOA member, Jolene Eicher. Jolene has successfully completed the accreditation process and has been granted accreditation in the areas of Sinus and Temporal bone by ICACTL.
