“Importance of In-Office CT and Intraoperative Imaging”
AAO-HNSF Corporate Symposia
Monday, September 22, 5:30am-7:30am
Abstract
Sinus and temporal bone Computed Tomography (CT) scanning is routinely used for diagnosis. For example, the Academy guidelines for Chronic Rhinosinusitis state that CT is essential. Unfortunately, conventional CT yields high radiation burdens and is resource intensive. Conversely, in-office, low-radiation small CT units allow for timely and patient-centered diagnosis, potentially avoiding ineffective initial therapies and multiple visits. This symposium presents how these units have become standard in hundreds of practices.
Furthermore, the symposium will present how portable intraoperative scanning has also created venues for new approaches, as evidenced by research demonstrating that sinus surgery is enhanced significantly.
